Old School Zine Reading Night! Say What!

Join us for a zine reading hosted by Billy Roberts of Loop Distro and Proof I Exist zine and Aaron Cynic of Diatribe zine and formerly of Fall of Autumn Distro.

With featured zinsters:

Andrew Mall: In between time served in grad school, teaching, writing zine reviews for Zine world, and volunteering with the Chicago Independent Radio Project, Andrew Mall consistently poses as an authority on all things hip and cool. While the most recent issue of his zine Living Proof is a year and a half old, he is currently editing the next issue with hopes for a late spring release.

Matt Fagan: Matt Fagan is a zinester and artist from Oregon who now lives in Chicago. He runs Meniscus Enterprises, out of which he publishes his zines and comics. Matt is also the co-owner of a comic book store called Brainstorm.

ReyRey: Rachel does a zine called Stream of Consciousness, now in its third issue.

Liz Mason: Liz Mason manages Quimby’s bookstore, the greatest bookstore ever, publishes a zine called Caboose, and thoroughly enjoys karaoke.

New Stuff 1/31/09

Wow uber light week for new stuff around here. New issue of Butt more than makes up for that though. Seems this week has been more about restocking the classics and keeping the store arranged and orderly-despite how hard customers try to undo that work. Next week is the Spelling Bee so make sure to mark your calendars appropriately should be an epic battle of word building and memory!

New Shipping Rates in Effect

Well its been a little while but the post office has increased the rates on priority mail again so Quimby’s has had to follow suite and raise our shipping charges. So for delivery within the contiguous USA Quimby’s shipping charges are now:

  • $5 for orders $30.00 and under,
  • $8.50 for orders between $30.01 and $79.99,
  • $12.00 for orders of $80.00 and above.

New Stuff 1/24/09

Wow it’s a lowbrow art book explosion over here. Tons of new stuff on contemporary surrealism and general wackiness flooded the new table this week. Perfect inspiration if you’re locked in your home working on art this winter season. We also just received a bunch of amazing sale books, so the sale shelves are bursting with great deals for all you ballers on a budget!

New Stuff 1/17/09

Well it looks like the arctic blast has subsided. Kind of a slow week for new stuff, but the zines we did get are pretty good! I co-sign 100% on Rigor Mortis, Animal Shelter, Jean Toche or the The Nothing Factory zine!
