Midwest Books to Prisoners is a not for profit group that Quimby’s supports by keeping a drop box for book donations. Midwest Books to Prisoners was formed in June of 2004. Their mission is simple: send reading materials to as many of the 2.1 million people in prison as they can. Through sending books, they hope to assist inmates in educating, entertaining and empowering themselves. The organization is made up of volunteers that collect book donations, read letters, pack packages and solicit donations. Their library space and books are donated by generous organizations and individuals, leaving the only financial burden that of postage.
The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month to read letters and pack books. If you are interested in joining them, please email mwbtp [at] riseup [dot] net for more info. If you are interested in donating books, you can drop your good condition books at Quimby’s. To get in touch with them or for more info:
