Notebook Drawings 2011 2012

"Notebook Drawings" is a collection of some of Rugg's ballpoint drawings of fan art and pop culture splicing reprinted with lush reproduction in a fully-realized notebook format.
The stuff he draws - deers with guns, comic book panels, trans He-Man, Futura typeface - I could sort of care less about - it cashes in heavily on nostalgias I don't carry- but his rendering techniques are undeniably off-the-chain. I'd say the lined notebook paper also gives the drawings a nice context, one of assumed privacy and obsession. -EF
