And the Birds Flew.... is McDuffie's full-fledged comic outpouring from the universe of Arden and Em, most directly set in motion with the Birds and Wolves mini in 2009. A story told mostly through subtle social gestures and a couple of obligatory conversations about David Bowie, AtBFFtT slips into a moonfaced dreamwandering  that acts as an intriguing foil to the undercurrents of Arden's lived reality.
