This spring, Midwest Perzine Fest is celebrating perzines — and the friendships they help forge — with a virtual event featuring some amazing zinemakers! The Midwest Perzine Fest Online Perzine Reading will be streamed live on Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. Central Time on the MWPZF YouTube channel: tiny.cc/mwpzfyoutube

The readers for the event, who all will be sharing work on the theme of friendship, are Heather Anacker, Nichole Bael, Julie Halpern & Liz Mason, Jessie Lynn McMains, Lynne Monsoon, Red Schulte, and Alisha Walker. The evening’s moderator will be MWPZF founder Jonas.

This event is free! PayPal donations to support MWPZF (which is planning its first in-person Exhibition Day here in Chicago!) are greatly appreciated: midwestperzinefest@gmail.com

This event is sponsored by Quimby’s Bookstore. Poster designed by our Cartoonist-in-Residence Caroline Cash.

Zine Club Chicago Online: Show Us Your Stacks II Edition
7:30 p.m. CST Tuesday, March 22 on Zoom
Free!

We had such a great time last year getting a peek at how y’all organize your zines at home that we’re bringing back this theme! And this time around, Ed from The Word Distro will be giving us an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the stacks at his distro HQ.

Some people meticulously catalogue their zines, while others toss them in random piles; for many of us, the ways we keep our zines fall someplace in between. In March, we’ll be discussing how we live with the zines we choose to bring home with us. Some of our favorite collectors will be showing us their stacks, and you’re invited to show off — or just talk about — your personal zine organizing system, too.

Get your collection in order (or leave it messy), BYOS(nacks), and join us on Zoom for Zine Club Chicago Online: Show Us Your Stacks II Edition at 7:30 p.m. CST Tuesday, March 22!

** RSVP required ** We want to make sure that our online Zine Club Chicago events are a safe space, so we won’t be releasing the Zoom link publicly. If you’d like to attend, please email zineclubchicago@gmail.com to RSVP by 9 p.m. CST Monday, March 21 (the event before our event). We’ll email you the Zoom link by 5 p.m. CST on Tuesday, March 22.

Zine newbies and longtime enthusiasts alike are always welcome at Zine Club Chicago, the city’s only book club-style event for people who read zines. This free monthly series is produced by Cynthia E. Hanifin and sponsored by Quimby’s Bookstore. Anna Jo Beck designs the group’s monthly flyers, created its logo, and made the Zine Club Chicago Shout-Outs site, where folks can peruse and recommend zines.
