I expected a typical travel journal, but instead got something much more meta: the author deconstructs the idea of backpacking through a foreign place, and asks us to contemplate what is missing from our lives that causes so many people to hit the road in search of “authentic” and “meaningful” experience. Ultimately, the author argues that travel is an ineffective way to combat the collective alienation of modern life, although an element of optimism and possibility pervades throughout. 4.25" X 7", 42pp, b&w, travel zine
