Runkle's Solid Silver: The Louie Jean Johnston Story is a tale of pure-hearted Olympic glory hemmed with ominous intuitions. The drawings drip out of 1970's spot illustrations with Wiemar eye makeup.
Verwey's "Music Video" comic is a fucked-up top-down collage indulgence. I like it for the same reasons I like Heather Benjamin's Sad People Sex: It's got the power and the glory. Also, its gots alligators, chains and motorboats. Altogether something else.
