The "Oily-format" eight-page pocket installments keep rolling in, each one a little gem and almost all of them such brief capsules that it's almost like reviewing a three-minute peep show. Mendes' comics in general are strangely compelling, usually set to the pace of listless kids who are walking their flat tire-d bike to the drug store, done with a startling true-ness to the characters and everyday life, curiosity and boredom, annoyance and affection. -EF
