Scaffold's second issue is venturing into the zone of overthinking itself. Like the debut book, #2 is rendered in a visually compelling "long shot" that moves over the side terrain of some sort of biodome-ish society. It's all quite beautiful, technically masterful and some of the visual tricks of depicting the navigation of the spaces are rather clever, but despite the explainations and reader guides provided it is still extremely hard to understand as a narrative. Worth a look, wish it wasn't so tethered to it's own rules. -EF
