The first two issues of The Plot have concentrated on world-building: establishing a strict-but-loving society at the cusp of a major initiation ceremony and facing an unknown threat from outside. Now, issue three turns that around and does a great job at prying open that order and undermining its authority. Ripe with foreshadowing, the three adolescent protagonists are questioning the rules and running risks and the way Brideau takes us along does great work at bringing up real societal questions while being thoroughly entertaining. -EF
