I love it when collage work creates articulate but unexpected mutations- it's the idea of eating plate of barf and puking up a cherry pie that really seduces me. Howes' work demonstrates just that. Each page in this collection is lush and exciting in a new way, loosely building a sinister study on flying monsters and faces being engulfed by floating ectoplasmic forms.
