Notes From Boying: a pressing concern book mark is a mother’s rumination on structures of gender as they confront and conform her child. Writing from a place of witness, empathy, and shared affliction, her observations are colored by the uneasy awareness that she also actively restricts and forms possibilities, her position oscillating between enforcer and enforced.

Lu Heintz is an artist, educator and feminist collaborator based in Providence, RI. Her multidisciplinary practice converges at interests in language, enclosure, embodiment and agency.

And P.S. To add some meta-ness to the experience, the ribbon is the bookmark. A bookmark for a zine that's a bookmark.

Pressing Concern was founded in Chicago in 2007 by Anne Elizabeth Moore to address the lack of small press outlets willing to support writing, comics, and other published work by young women and nonbinary folks.
