Perhaps we can’t remember where we picked up a particular title, or we wish we could find out more about an enigmatic zinemaker. Or maybe the zine’s content explores a puzzling subject. This month, Zine Club Chicago will revel in (any possibly even unravel) the questions posed by the most intriguing zines we own.

Grab your favorite cryptic zines, BYOS(nacks), and join us on Zoom for Zine Club Chicago Online: Cut-and-Paste Conundrums Edition at 7:30 p.m. CT Tuesday, May 24!

Apr ’22

12:00 pm

Yet again, Chicagoland proves itself to be the dream destination for book lovers and readers of all ages! Quimby’s joins more than two dozen independent bookstores in the greater Chicago area — from Lake Forest to Beverly, and Naperville to the Loop — in collaborating on a third annual Chicagoland Bookstore Crawl, which encourages book lovers to indulge in bookstore tourism by visiting 10 or more stores in a single day.

The annual challenge is being held again on Independent Bookstore Day (IBD), which is a one-day national party celebrating indie book stores on the last Saturday in April. Each store creates its own unique events—including guest authors, special kids’ story times, readings, contests, giveaways, and special sales.

How to Participate…

Take photos at each participating independent bookstore you visit on Independent Bookstore Day. Share your photos on social media with the hashtag #ChiLoveBooks

• Visit TEN stores in one day and get 10% off at all participating bookstores for an ENTIRE YEAR!

• Visit FIFTEEN stores in one day and get 15% off at all participating bookstores for an ENTIRE YEAR!

On your last bookstore visit share your bookstore photos to verify your visits.

Readers are encouraged to post a snapshot of themselves and their Independent Bookstore Day haul on social media with the hashtag #ChiLoveBooks

Zine Club Chicago Online: Show Us Your Stacks II Edition on March 22!

Zine Club Chicago Online: Show Us Your Stacks II Edition
7:30 p.m. CST Tuesday, March 22 on Zoom
Free!

We had such a great time last year getting a peek at how y’all organize your zines at home that we’re bringing back this theme! And this time around, Ed from The Word Distro will be giving us an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the stacks at his distro HQ.

Some people meticulously catalogue their zines, while others toss them in random piles; for many of us, the ways we keep our zines fall someplace in between. In March, we’ll be discussing how we live with the zines we choose to bring home with us. Some of our favorite collectors will be showing us their stacks, and you’re invited to show off — or just talk about — your personal zine organizing system, too.

Get your collection in order (or leave it messy), BYOS(nacks), and join us on Zoom for Zine Club Chicago Online: Show Us Your Stacks II Edition at 7:30 p.m. CST Tuesday, March 22!

** RSVP required ** We want to make sure that our online Zine Club Chicago events are a safe space, so we won’t be releasing the Zoom link publicly.
