Jillian Tamaki is one of the most important cartoonists working today. She’s co-created two books with her cousin Mariko: Skim, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book and a finalist for the Governor General’s Award; and This One Summer, which earned a Governor General’s Award and a Caldecott Honor. Tamaki’s first collection of her own comics was the critically acclaimed Eisner Award-winning SuperMutant Magic Academy.
Boundless is Tamaki’s most substantial solo work to date, 250 pages of expertly hewn comics that probe the loneliness of our intimate relationships being mediated by social media, the ways we find expression through pop culture, and our connections with our bodies. They are gently surreal and all too telling about contemporary society.
